EDUCATIONAL FORUM ON
AFFORDABLE HOUSING

THURSDAY, JANUARY 29, 2009 - 7:30pm
HV Central High School
Performing Arts Center

On Thursday, January 29, the Hopewell Valley League of Women Voters (LWVHV) will hold an educational forum on the economic, social and environmental impact of the Council of Affordable Housing (COAH) rulings on Hopewell Valley and around the State. The Forum will begin at 7:30 pm at Hopewell Central High School's Performing Arts Center. The primary goal is to provide a learning experience for the residents of our Hopewell Valley community.

The cornerstone of the evening will be a presentation by Phil Caton who will present a primer on COAH, including information on what the rules require, what new terms we need to learn, and how we have gotten to this point. Mr. Caton is a senior partner of Clarke Caton Hintz, a local architecture, planning, & landscape architecture firm.

Mr. Richard Bilotti, recently retired publisher of the Trenton Times, will moderate a panel of knowledgeable people including the Rev. Charles Stephens of the Unitarian Universalist Church at Washington Crossing; David Sandahl, Hopewell Township Committeeman; and Jim Waltman, Executive Director, Stony Brook Watershed. They will address the social, economic and environmental implications of the COAH rules.

A brief Question and Answer period will follow the panel presentations.

Many people will arrive anxious to know more about the specific plans of their municipalities and also to learn more about the concerns and activities of civic organizations. If you or your organization would be willing to be a resource for residents before and after the formal presentation, you are invited to be on hand from 7-7:30 pm and 9-9:30 pm at stations in the foyer of the auditorium. Tables will be set up for posters, informational flyers, and personal conversations.

To reserve your place in the foyer, please call 737-1106 or 737-0867 before January 23rd. We encourage your participation in this important event. Thank you for your involvement.
